The following are explained: The wall of the eye ball consists of three layers: Sclera, Choroid and Retina. Cornea is a non-vascular transparent outer coat. Sclera forms the white of the eye . Sclera is innervated by the optic nerve. Choroid is highly vascularized. Iris is the coloured portion between cornea and lens. Centre of the iris is the pupil through which the light enters. Retina layer contains three types of cells: photoreceptor cells – cones and rods.
