Profile Design Threadless Stem Converter: 1" To 1 1/8"

Upgrade your old bike with this threadless stem converter so you can put modern stems and handlebars.

Today I’m going to install this Profile Design threadless converter on my Trek 720 Multitrack. This adapter converts the 1” threaded quill stem to 1 1/8” threadless stem so you can put 1 1/8” handlebars and stems. (The old one has fitment issues and doesn’t meet the minimum insertion)

The quality is intact and the fitment is just right, it slides in with little effort, not too tight to put in and not too loose to have movement in between the steerer tube and adapter.

Before installing the stem, put it in and see if it can meet the minimum insertion. Find out the height you desire and prepare the spacers.

Take it out and install the stem and spacers, you don’t have to put spacers, I put them only to hide the converter. (I’m using 1 1/8” but you could use 1” if you have)

Tighten the top bolt, turn and adjust the handlebar and finally tighten the stem bolts to finish it up.
