Finishing a Prayer Rope with a Cross

1. Use the tails from the beginning end to make a double-size knot.
Although you are using two strands as if they were one, at times you will need to pull on
each individual strand separately in order to tighten the knot.
2. Cut off the two shortest tails at the base.
3. Make one regular knot with the remaining tails.
4. Make another knot, but insert the crossbar at the point where you are sliding the knot against the previous knot. Then finish the knot as usual.
5. Cut off the loose tails and melt the ends of the plastic cord to keep it from unraveling.

For larger prayer ropes, you may want to use a crossbar with 4 knots and put 2 knots instead of 1 below it.
