Early 1980s, Central Coast NSW Australia. Aussie made 1968 Chrysler Valiant VE V.I.P. with upgraded factory adjustable torsion bar front suspension, steering etc. A 19 year old young bloke with his 2nd Valiant. (I've now owned over 350 Chryslers and restored most)
I fully re-built her better then new with all new premium mechanical parts and upgraded the original power disc brake system.
Originally Alabaster in colour, I fitted perfect panels (hence the different patchy colours in the clip) and eventually resprayed her Ebony Black. For ultimate Safety, traction and truly amazing handling on the street I installed all new Full Pedders Sports Ryder race suspension, dual front competition sway bars etc, safest and best performance big dollar A pattern Yokohama low profile sticky wet weather tyres etc etc. The VE VIP V8s were originally fitted with a high compression 273 CID V8. I installed a standard 1969 VF true Fireball 318 high compression engine with full floating pistons. Standard camshaft and it always just stayed a 2 Barrel carb. I just tuned it to perfection. (Although in the last part of this clip she was badly due for a re-tune) After that I painted her Black and converted her later to standard VJ Val Electronic Ignition with a High Performance Coil, fitted exhaust extractors, dual exhaust, and larger Holley 2BBL carb etc. (As seen in the still pics at the start and end of the video) She got labelled "The Fireball" by local hoons and for some of the biggest burnouts on the Central Coast, and ... well ... for always easily outrunning the local Highway patrol manual V8 Ford and Holden Interceptors with my 3 speed automatic TF 904 trans!

Usually only in safer conditions and when no other traffic etc was around like late at night and slowed down in built up areas. I snapped out of it decades ago (Thank God!) And I've still never been at fault for any accidents ever, and have had a spotless driving record for decades now too. The Cops knew me by name back then, and would come around to our family house later for a "chat" (I later discovered that I had undiagnosed A.D.D. in those days which explained why I used to take off Lol) 😁

*** Since then we have worked with police and race tracks to encourage kids to take their sport and speed to the track, and have supported developers in council meetings etc to try to get facilities built. As I personally would have definitely taken my sport to the track from the start! But there was NO local motorsport venue / "Sports field for us. Crazy! In my view if politicians really cared about road safety and not just revenue then they would provide facilities for car enthusiasts to play their sport too instead of ignoring the whole need and then complaining about hoons etc. Take care all. :)
