My first impression was: ‘Jesus, this sounds like crap’. But that just was the biased and closed-minded persona that is used to the modern ultra-wide pads.

After a while, something truly animal came out of this guy. I felt a real thrill to dominate it. To understand its simplicity. It is pure analog, battery powered (2 x AAA), but analog. And it sounds analog.

It is a 45-dollar synth. It fits in the palm of your pocket. Don’t expect this to sound like a Prophet or an Oberheim. It has a volume knob, an aux out, a headphone out, and a standby - VCO 1 – VCO 2 switch. That’s all.

It doesn’t have keys, is like a pitch bend. You must use it with a stylus, otherwise, you need really small fingers.

¿Is this usable in music production? Definitely. But it will depend on your approach. For example, I’ve sampled some sounds from it, obviously with some post-processing, and you can get some interesting results (not like in the video. I just tried to make it fast). But if you give it the time it needs, it will reward you.

It’s just like the philosophy of synths. These are real machines, there is real electricity that is being processed. It’s not an algorithmic digital process. So the ways to achieve the sound that you desire are different. Not better, nor worse, simply different.

Please don’t expect this to be your main synth, but it has a space in my studio, because I know I will get that sound a place in my music.

In my YouTube Shorts I posted some interesting things you can do with this guy.

Have a truly great day!
