F-16s Dance Through Deadly SAMs OVER Baghdad!

Описание к видео F-16s Dance Through Deadly SAMs OVER Baghdad!

On the third day of Operation Desert Storm, Coalition leaders decided to try to attack targets in Baghdad area by a massive non-stealth strike. The strikers were F-16s from 388th and 401st TFW, supported by F-15s, F-4s and EF-111s. Main target was Tuwaitha nuclear research facility, site known for the famous Osirak nuclear reactor raid a decade before. The attack didn't go quite as planned, escorts had to leave earlier than anticipated, mostly because of fuel problems. Iraqi defenses were strong enough to represent a serious threat to the F-16s. The most famous part of this operation known as Package Q Strike is the HUD tape of the aircraft flown by Major Emmet Tullia. He successfully evaded at least six Iraqi missiles, without even using chaff and initially being loaded with bombs and fuel tanks. Some pilots from his flight were not so lucky.
But Tullia was not the only pilot who was fired upon by multiple surface to air missiles. Captain Keith Rosenkranz had a similar experience. In this DCS World video, we will examine the experience of both pilots while giving an overview of the air strike.
