Epic Technique Drum Solo Big Band Style With 26 Inch Bass Drum

Nothing like kicking and driving a full Big Band as a drummer. As the band leader of my Ken Loomer Big Band, it`s so wonderful to be playing with these outstanding musicians. When it`s my turn to do a solo, I want want it to be exciting and dynamic. I`m using my classic 1977 Slingerland drum set with the huge 26 inch bass drum. In this type of Big Band drum solo, I use a lot of dynamic`s. With the drum technique I have learned, I want to be relaxed and being able to play what I`m thinking with ease. Doing the cymbal solo, I use my technique for finger control and playing crossovers with the cymbals which the people enjoy so much watching. I use every part of the drum set to make this a interesting solo to watch and listen to. I have learned from the great Big Band drummers of the past who did this type of open drum solo like Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Gene Krupa, Sonny Payne, and Butch Miles that technique and feel are so important to play. I just feel this music so much that it inspires me to put in 110% in my performance.
