F1 1981 - Andrea de Cesaris Crash Filled Rookie Season [McLaren-Ford]

Описание к видео F1 1981 - Andrea de Cesaris Crash Filled Rookie Season [McLaren-Ford]

After competing at the last 2 races of the 1980 Formula 1 season with Alfa Romeo, Andrea de Cesaris - and his personal backer Marlboro - landed a seat at Ron Dennis' McLaren team. There, Andrea would show glimpses of speed but would crash all too often. So often that he would in fact set a new F1 record with 19 crashes during the season either in practice or in the race and force his team to withdraw his car from the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort because they where worried that he would crash it again after a heavy shunt during qualifying. So this season was the birth of Andrea "de crasheris", the pilot that holds the record for most grand prix starts without a win.

U.S. West - Causes a pile up at the start
Argentina - A "gracious" double spin
Monaco - Making friends with Prost and Andretti
Spain - Spun off
Great Britain - Unlucky to get caught into Gilles accident
Germany - Collision
Netherlands - After a huge crash during qualifying, McLaren withdrew him from the race
Canada - Interfering with the championship battle

R.I.P. Andrea
