In Episode 3 Mayor Jahns and Deputy Marnes walk to levels to meet Sheriff Holston’s pick for his successor, Juliette Nichols. Because she wants to find out what happened to her boyfriend George she agrees to take the job but only if they can shut down the generator so she can fix it before she leaves the down deep for the up top.

Silo is the new Apple TV+ sci-fi series based on the Silo book series by Hugh Howey. The third episode explores the character Jules and the politics inside the Silo. It ends in tragedy when Marnes discovers the Mayor dying in her bathroom.

The Silo is an underground world where the last 10,000 people on Earth live to stay safe from the toxic environment on the surface. The inhabitants aren’t aware of how it got there or why things are the way they are because a rebellion 140 destroyed their histories. Things take a turn when the Sheriff's wife starts asking questions and eventually asks to go outside. This is the cardinal rule of the Silo. Any spoken request to leave the Silo is granted, but it’s irrevocable, once uttered it’s determinative, in other words, it’s a death sentence.
