The basic function of the kidney is to cleanse the blood of toxins and transform the waste into urine. That is why the kidney is also known as the filtering organ of the body. But there are also many other synthesising functions which our kidney performs such as producing the erythropoietin hormone which produces red blood cells, synthesise the final product of vitamin D which assists in calcium-phosphorus metabolism, and strengthening the bone density, maintaining the balance of salts and water which control the blood pressure of the body.

There are many symptoms which can lead to kidney failure. Sometimes the kidney only passes water but fails to filter other salts and filth, which makes urine pass normally but can lead to kidney failure. When the kidney cannot pass water then this water is stored in any part of the body and leads to swelling on the face and foot and water can also be stored in the stomach cavity. As we know that the kidney produces erythropoietin which makes the blood in the body but when the kidney cannot synthesise the hormone this leads to a lack of blood in the body. Therefore, lack of blood is also a sign of kidney failure. High blood pressure is also a sign of kidney failure because the kidney helps to control the blood pressure of the body but in the case of kidney failure, the kidney is unable to control the blood pressure and this leads to high blood pressure. Loss of appetite is also a sign of kidney failure.

ऐसे कई लक्षण हैं जिनकी वजह से किडनी खराब हो सकती है। कभी-कभी गुर्दा केवल पानी पास करता है लेकिन अन्य लवण और गंदगी को छानने में विफल रहता है, जिससे मूत्र सामान्य रूप से गुजरता है लेकिन गुर्दे की विफलता हो सकती है। जब किडनी पानी पास नहीं कर पाती है तो यह पानी शरीर के किसी भी हिस्से में जमा हो जाता है और चेहरे और पैर पर सूजन आ जाती है और पानी पेट की गुहा में भी जमा हो सकता है। जैसा कि हम जानते हैं कि किडनी एरिथ्रोपोइटिन का उत्पादन करती है जो शरीर में रक्त बनाती है लेकिन जब किडनी हार्मोन को संश्लेषित नहीं कर पाती है तो इससे शरीर में रक्त की कमी हो जाती है। इसलिए खून की कमी भी किडनी खराब होने का संकेत है। हाई ब्लड प्रेशर भी किडनी फेल होने का एक संकेत है क्योंकि किडनी शरीर के ब्लड प्रेशर को कंट्रोल करने में मदद करती है लेकिन किडनी फेल होने की स्थिति में किडनी ब्लड प्रेशर को कंट्रोल नहीं कर पाती है और इससे हाई ब्लड प्रेशर हो जाता है। भूख न लगना भी किडनी खराब होने का संकेत है।
