▼Synopsis
This is a drama that aired in September 1987 as part of the ""Masterpiece Period Drama"" series, which was broadcasted every Thursday at 8 pm for one hour on TV Asahi. It features a daring sequel to the story of ""Kira Kozuke no Suke,"" with a well-crafted screenplay by renowned scriptwriter Tatsuo Nogami, solid direction by veteran director Tokuzo Tanaka from Daiei, and the exceptional talent of Takuzo Kawatani, who was at the height of his career as a distinctive character actor at that time. Although it is a small-scale work, it is an outstanding piece that cannot be overlooked, thanks to Kawatani's unique personality and character. One cannot help but shed tears for the fate of Kohei-ta, who goes alone to take revenge on Ueno no Suke, and Oe, who loves him.
Mori Kojiro (Kawatani Takuzo), a member of the Akō Ronin, was unable to fulfill his duty to confirm the face of Kira Kozukenosuke (Ozawa Eitaro) before their attack, as nobody knew what Kira looked like. As a result, he is insulted and banished by Ōishi Kuranosuke (Tamba Tetsuro) in front of the other ronin. However, Ōishi secretly visits the heartbroken Mori and apologizes to him. He also reveals that Kira has prepared a decoy and if the real Kira is missed during the attack, Mori will be the only one to sneak into Kira's mansion and take care of him. Mori sinks into despair, but finds comfort with the kind-hearted Okame (Yoko Asaji), the owner of a local bar.

After the Akō Ronin successfully avenge their master and see Kira's head, Mori becomes depressed and decides to abandon the life of a samurai to live with Okame. However, he is visited by Terazaka Kichiemon (Kurosaki hikaru), another member of the Akō Ronin who informs him that Kira was not actually killed and was only a decoy. The real Kira was not injured and fled the scene. Without revealing Kira's true identity to the other ronin, Ōishi ordered his men to decapitate the decoy, thinking that they had killed Kira. Mori decides to fulfill his secret mission from Ōishi and starts searching for the real Kira to take revenge.
