Andrew Marvell is the third of the major metaphysical poets we look at on this course. He is very much of a transitional figure however, and shows the influence of both the Cavalier and Metaphysical forebears, making him a unique figure and great in his own right.

I observe some of the neo-Platonic features and take some time to distinguish Marvell from the Romantic poets who similarly appeal to an idealized sense of 'nature'.
