We were so lucky to get a bag of homegrown #hazelnuts from my fiancé’s family farm in Tassie, but I put off opening and roasting them for 3 weeks because it’s SO MUCH WORK. 😫😂

It’s times like this I understand why roasted hazelnuts cost so much… I spent a few free afternoons and nights cracking them open. 😅 And then came the roasting part to remove the skin, otherwise it tastes bitter. Roasting hazelnuts is pretty easy - just 180 degrees in the oven for about 5-10 mins. You’ll usually start to get that amazing smell of #roastedhazelnuts fill the home.

But at the end of it, they taste amazing and crunchy. 🌰😌 They’re great as a snack on their own but my fave is adding them to brownies. 🤤

We also got some walnuts too. If you think hazelnuts are tough, walnuts are worse. 😱 On top of cracking their tougher shells, I had to separate each one in half to remove the inner skin and most of the time the entire thing would just crumble into tiny pieces…
