Tea Horse Road and the Six Ancient Pu-erh Tea Mountains.

Victoria visits the historic streets of Yiwu town in April of 2023, one of the six ancient Pu-erh tea mountains, located in Xishuangbanna prefecture, Yunnan. Yiwu was once the tribute Pu-erh town during the Qing dynasty and the gateway to the famous Tea Horse Road.

At the site of the Tea Horse Road, there are six horse statues, as well as six large engraved stones, each representing one of the six ancient tea mountains, Yiwu, Yibang, Gedeng, Manzhuan, Mansong, and Youle (易武,依邦,革登,蛮砖,莽枝,攸乐). Also, a local old town museum showcases the history of Yiwu town and the equipment used by the caravans that travelled the tea horse road.

Another famous attraction is the Che Shun Hao (车顺号) house that has a honorary wood tablet over the door that is engraved with Qing emperor Dao Guang's proclamation in 1838, "tribute to the heavenly dynasty". Che shun was a Pu-erh tea producer in Yiwu at the time. They gifted the puerh tea to the emperor and the emperor liked the tea so much that gifted the plaque to this family to honor them.
