MARX Classic 1950s Tin SANTA Fe War Bonnet Diesel 21 AA

Attended my friend Tony's Trains & Things Sidewalk Sale this past rainy Saturday morning in Ewing NJ and spotted a Marx diesel set (AA) I'd been looking for on one of the bargain tables. The excellent condition of the bright shiny red, yellow and silver Santa Fe war bonnet scheme lithographic printing on a tin scale shell drew my attention immediately and for under $50.00.
I trusted my instincts that even if it did not run, it was after all a Marx and as they say they are hard to kill. It was missing its black roof air horns but I may either try to make replacements with my 3D printer or look for them out on the EBay. Enjoy the video as I take it apart to fix its headlights wire and give its 74 year old motor some much needed service. She does sound like a coffee grinder even after cleaning, lubrication and oil but still can pull a few cars around a 4x8 oval and will definitely not be a shelf queen.
