How can we feed a growing population sustainably? Current solutions focus almost exclusively on increasing agricultural productivity, and have become a driving motivation for pursuing industrial agriculture - despite its heavy environmental, social, and economic costs. The current ‘feed the world’ narrative is failing to address issues of poverty, access, and social equity. Its ignoring the root causes of insufficient diets. And it doesn’t take into account where, by whom, and how food should be produced.
