VESC tuning for a KDE5215XF-435

Описание к видео VESC tuning for a KDE5215XF-435

Here I try the KDE5215XF-435kv motor for the first time using the VESC6 MK5 and show my process of tuning it. It runs fine with the default detection, so what I'm trying here is to push the power limit of this particular motor and propeller.

What I ended up changing from the default detection for maximum power in the end was:

General - Current:
Motor Current Max: 110A
(Although I think you should stay below 90A for this motor and also install a temperature sensor)

General - RPM:
Max ERPM: 150000

FOC - General:
Decrease motor inductance (L) from 5.5 uH to 4 uH
NOTE: When pushing a motor like this it is likely to start saturating, so you usually need to decrease the inductance a bit.

FOC - Advanced:
Zero Vector Frequency: 45 kHz
Observer offset: -1.5

Update: I was looking in the wrong column in the table (thrust instead of RPM), so the numbers match quite well at the end. Just by coincidence the thrust and RPM at full power is almost exactly the same number.
