Packrafting Utah - The Virgin River - Zion National Park Narrows

Описание к видео Packrafting Utah - The Virgin River - Zion National Park Narrows

Packrafting is a spontaneous sport. You have to be ready when the conditions are. The virgin is running this year, it doesn't happen every year, and a lot of people have floated this week if you haven’t noticed. So we blew off work, got the top down permit, and made it happen. I’m grateful for likeminded friends who have a similar work life balances. If you look at the gauge now, it may have been the last window of the season. We'll see.

The Zion Narrows have been a bucket list item for me since I started paddling. I fell in love with Zion as a young man who just moved to Utah. I was living in Panguitch with friends showing me around the park by hiking, climbing, and canyoneering in this one of a kind place.

Hiking the narrows is not my idea of fun since you have to stop to take it all in or risk falling on your face. Floating through with some exciting rapids thrown in allows you to soak it all in and is certainly the best way to experience the narrows in my opinion.

We had 300 cfs during the daylight hours and a threat of rain which never produced. Red rock provided our shuttle on the way in and the buses don’t stop at 8 or 7 on the way out. If you block traffic to talk to the drivers that won’t stop to explain the situation, the rangers will come give you a talking to.
