Largest manmade lake in North Carolina! Oh, North Carolina, how we love you. We camped at Lake Norman State Park, a North Carolina state park, which is located on Lake Norman. We found huge campsites, miles of trails and scenic park roads, deer, and water views here. Most sites are primitive sites so book carefully unless that's what you want. There are only ten full hook up sites here for RV campers. No camper or tent? Lake Norman State Park has cute, spacious primitive cabins for rent as well. You can spend your time here at the park or drive a bit to explore scenic mountain areas.

What we love about Lake Norman State Park:
1. The full hook up sites (including sewer!)
2. Large sites, large living areas with plenty of room between sites
3. Miles of hiking, biking, or kayaking - plenty to do here
4. Hilly and scenic
5. Deer
6. Peaceful campground
7. Verizon phone service works (but not at the Visitor Center)
8. Fishing

What we didn't love about Lake Norman State Park:
1. No real direction for checking in. The park office parking lot is also parking for the over 30 miles of bike trails making it difficult to navigate with an RV and tow vehicle on a busy day. There are no signs providing information where to park which could lead to you being stuck with no turn around in the lower level of parking.
2. We wish there were more full hook up sites here.
