Marsaxlokk is a popular tourist spot to visit when you're in Malta and we were there more than 10 years ago for dinner one evening.

On this visit, we went to the Marsaxlokk market on a Saturday and a Sunday. The Sunday is the main market with a fish market being the focus. There are alot of fresh produce such as veg and fruit, and also traditional goodies - though the latter are very overpriced.

WARNING: AVOID THE STALL SELLING CANNOLI AND OTHER SWEETS!! THERE ARE NO PRICES FOR WHAT THEY SELL, THEY PRETEND TO WEIGH WHAT YOU CHOOSE AND THEN ATTEMPT TO CHARGE YOU AN EXORBITANT AMOUNT!

Liquor prices are also inflated and we have seen them cheaper at a number of supermarkets, including at duty free shops at the airport.

We preferred the Sunday market as it was more bustling, and the fish market felt more authentic and local. There are also craft and souvenir stalls on both days at the market, so it's a nice place to wander around, soak in the atmosphere of the pretty village and also do a bit of shopping. You may also decide to stay for lunch at one of the numerous seafood restaurants in town.

Marsaxlokk is a bit touristy, but the Sunday market is a must-visit when you're in Malta!
