How much water do you need to take with you hiking and backpacking? I see this hiking and backpacking question a lot. The answer is that’s there’s no specific amount. However, in this hiking tips video I’ll share with you my knowledge and experience to get your hydration correct.

In this backpacking tips video I’ll share with you some of the items I use including water storage bottles, flasks and hydration reservoirs as well as water filtration systems.

There are a long, long list of variables to consider such as:

Distance
Elevation
Gradient
Temperature
Humidity
Forecast
Etc, etc.

It’s really important that you can re-fill and drink safely.

In summary do these:

Hydrate 48 hours prior to hiking or backpacking
Plan
Take enough water to get you to at least the first water point (I’d take slightly more)
Take a water filtration device or water treatment
Fill up and make sure you get to the next water point
And so on and so on.
Keep reminding yourself to drink as many people forget. Sounds silly, but they do!
