Identifying Measures of Spread | Grade 6 Math | 6.SP.A.3 💜💙

Описание к видео Identifying Measures of Spread | Grade 6 Math | 6.SP.A.3 💜💙

In this math video we will be identifying measures of spread. We will understand that our statistical measures of data are mean, median, mode, range and IQR (interquartile range). We will learn that there are two categories of measure - measures of center and measures of spread. We will understand that mean, median, and mode are measures of center. Since mean represents the average, median represents the middle data value, and mode is the data value or values that occur the most. We will understand that range and IQR are measures of range. Since range represents the difference between the maximum and minimum values in the data set it identifies the spread of all the data. Since IQR represents the difference between the upper quartile and the lower quartile, it represents the spread of the middle half of the data set. We will eliminate the answer choices that are measures of center and identify the answer range which represents a measure of spread. An exemplar solution is modeled and explained.

Question 12 - Grade 6 - 2023 MCAS
Statistics and Probability
Develop understanding of statistical variability.
6.SP.A.3 Recognize that a measure of center for a numerical data set summarizes all of its values with a single number, while a measure of variation describes how its values vary with a single number.

6.SP.A.3 Determine the best measure of variability for a real-world situation.
