Mountain Biking Blue Racer & Blazing Star Loops | Beach Ridge MTB Trail | Oak Openings | Swanton, OH

Oak Openings park is part of the Toledo Metroparks system, our Ohio neighbors to the West. The park contains several unique ecosystems within its 5000 acres, and has a lot to offer: hiking, horse back riding, camping, an all-purpose trail, and a recently added mountain bike trail.

The Beach Ridge Mountain Bike Trail system consists of smooth dirt singletrack on mostly flat terrain that winds along several creeks through a forested environment. It is made up of several interconnected loop trails: Hognose Snake, Blue Racer, Blazing Star, Badger, and Flying Squirrel, altogether totaling 12 miles of excellent mountain bike trails. This video provides highlights of the Blue Race and Blazing Star loops.

The Blue Racer (1.9 miles) and Blazing Star (1.6 miles) loops step up the difficulty compared to the beginner-friendly Hognose Snake Loop (video available here:    • Hognose Snake Loop | Beach Ridge MTB ...  ). It features tight, twisty turns, the occasional rocky and rooty sections, and a multitude of well-constructed wooden features (rollers, berms, tall bridges, skinnies, tabletops, and a teeter totter).

This video provides complete footage of the Hognose Snake loop. Stay tuned for future videos featuring the other loops in the Beach Ridge trail system.
