056 Final prep’s (while life happens.)

A hard call, saying farewell to our dog. Very hard. One will probably never understand why things happen. But life continues and we, I have to do so to. So the final preps it is. Getting ready for two months sailing. First up, the transportation to shore. Make it solo sailer ready. Second, add a screen to fill the gap in the instruments panel and last, but not least, add a new fridge. the Isotherm GE-80, build in version that is. The old domestic had died on my, for a to me unclear reason, but a spare was on special offer so it was to good not to. It’s life I guess, sometimes it happens.

For those who don't know me, I am Jan and I’d going to set sail for a longer period of time during this summer! Unfortunately my wife does not like sailing as much as I think I do so we can't do it all together but we found a middle ground!

On a boat? Yes, an aluminum Koopmans 36 foot Sailboat called Wind Rose.The plan was conceived in 2006 and I've have been working towards it ever since. With the purchase of Wind Rose, our go anywhere aluminium sailboat, I committed to departure.

Knowing the destination(s), the duration and a rough route I'm doing the final preparations of Wind Rose and make sure we can focus on the sailing and not worry (too much) about the ship. Who knows what happens during the trip but follow along and I'll show you!
