It's been a minute since I did one of these, and I went with an impulsive choice that was a song I happened to really be feeling as of late - this is the 1990 demo version of An Incarnation's Dream, featuring the bass mastery of Roger Patterson. It all really speaks for itself, it's no secret this is what I love, but there are a lot of great things worth mentioning.
I've never seen anyone cover or transcribe this amazing version of the song, I never even thought I'd be able to do it, (very few cover this tune to begin with), so I decided upon myself that I'd try to learn it as accurately as possible in order to create the most faithful (and only) cover the internet has seen. It's impossible to do what Roger did, and the closest there will ever be to that is Tony Choy's phenomenal work on the final version of Unquestionable Presence from 1991, but this is my personal take on Roger's lines.
It'd be impossible to bring up my favorite parts of this song to play and listen to, so I'm just going to list a few. Right off the bat there's the root-fifth-octave arpeggios on every tremolo in the main riff. Those really complete that part for me, so I had to include it. It's very Steve Harris like and gives the riff a certain bounce and groove. The breakdown at 1:20 is iconic and the tone is the absolute fattest thing on the planet. Pops out so well yet has a massive low end. At 1:36 there's an awesome natural harmonic included that I tried hard to really articulate (as I did every other note, but that thing really pops out). At 2:28, there's also an insane octave jump that is only done once in that riff, it's such a cool addition. All of these details I really tried to play with such an attention to the musicality and detail as Roger did. There's too many for me to truly make a comprehensive list. It's all amazing. No playing and tone was ever as articulate as his.

Anyways, enough of my rambling, as I said before, it all speaks for itself. The best!
