"They say to mix a drink in the Europa, you put the ingredients into a shaker, stand still and the hotel goes up and down."

Bernard Falk stays a night at the Europa Hotel in Belfast, once known as "the most bombed hotel in world".

He talks to hotel staff about their experiences working in Belfast's biggest hotel during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

"The staff at the Europa now accept bombings and shootings as part of their daily lives."

Originally broadcast on Nationwide, BBC One, 21 February 1973. Footage from this programme was then re-broadcast as part of The Front Line is My Doorstep, broadcast on BBC One, 9 August 1977.

Although the bulk of this report is from Bernard Falk's first visit to the hotel in 1973, a small amount of additional footage was filmed for the 1977 programme.

This YouTube clip contains elements from both the 1973 and 1977 programmes.
