Mariah Carey's "If It's Over" [LIVE at the Grammys '92] -- SINGER REACTS

This is my reaction, analysis and breakdown of Mariah Carey singing her brilliant, soulful, gospel influenced “If it's Over,” live at the Grammys in 1992. This song is from her album ‘Emotions,’ and is one of many great songs on it. I am a music educator, vocal coach, as well as Jazz & R&B vocalist and saxophone player. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and several others are significant pioneers of modern vocal techniques and a huge influence of pop singers like Ariana Grande, beyonce, and many more of today. Mariah is famous for her full lower register, her dark timbre, her incredibly strong (and high) mixed belts, and the obvious excellently executed riffs & runs and whistle tones. In addition to her amazing control she is a brilliant songwriter, giving us so many creative, timeless hits. I love this song because we really get to hear her old-soul gospel roots, and she really shows off her voice. This performance is also super emotive which I really enjoy. Mariah is a huge influence of mine! I am a huge fan if you can’t tell!! Thank you for watching!!!
