Love where you live - St Day

Описание к видео Love where you live - St Day

This video tells the story of the saving of St Day Town Clock and War Memorial for the public. The building is almost 200 years old and has been the focal point of life in St Day for all of that time. It has served as the local lock up and the centre of a thriving market during the boom years of the Cornish mining industry when St Day was the commercial centre of an area known as 'the richest square mile on earth'. In assuming ownership of the building and restoring it to its former glory St Day Parish Council has raised over £100,000, which has included many donations from local businesses and individuals, and has also instigated local research projects into the history of the building and the stories behind the names of the dead on the War Memorial. In addition a number of community events have been held to celebrate the work, namely a lantern parade and a digital art and music show over two days and the formation of the St Day Day-light Choir which has performed a specially written song about the building. A further final music extravaganza is planned for next year when the project is completed.
