Pottery Basics: Using The Undercutting Tool

Описание к видео Pottery Basics: Using The Undercutting Tool

The undercutting tool is an essential pottery tool for removing excess clay from the side of a freshly thrown pot. Using it correctly can save you a ton of time trimming away excess clay later. In this video I demonstrate how to hold the undercutting tool to the side of the pot to keep everything on center and what hand position to use. I also demonstrate how to cleanly remove the ring of clay on the bat created by proper use of the undercutting tool using the needle tool. Since using the wire tool to remove your piece from the potters wheel is the next step, I have included a brief demo of that as well.
