STEP BY STEP GUIDE
How to send large videos in Gmail on Android phone

Sending files less than 25MB in size

STEP 1
Let’s start by opening a new blank email
You can do that by clicking on the compose icon in the bottom right of the inbox.

STEP 2
To attach a video to your email, you need to click on the paperclip icon at the top of your blank message

STEP 3
When you tap on that, Gmail offers you two options.
You can either attach the Video directly into the email if it is less than 25MB
Or you can insert it from your Google Drive.
Chose to ‘Attach a file’

STEP 4
Select a video that you know to be larger than 25MB
Tat video is then attached to the email

STEP 5
Once you are happy that your video files have been successfully added to the email, you can add a recipient's email address and email title and send that email as you would do normally.

Sending files larger than 25MB in size

STEP 1
To send a file larger than 25MB in Gmail,
We need to start not in the Gmail app but in the Google Drive app.
I’ll tap on the Google Drive app to open it

STEP 2
The first thing I need to do is to add the file to Google Drive from my phone
To do that I’ll tap the plus sign in the bottom right of the app

STEP 3
And from the options shown I’ll choose the Upload option to add a file from my phone

STEP 4
This opens a view of all the recent files on my phone
I’m going to choose a file which I know is larger than the 25MB file size limit that Gmail imposes.

STEP 5
That file then uploads
And if I tap on the menu icon in the top right of the app
And choose to view recent files
You can see the progress of that upload

STEP 6
Once the file has been uploaded we can return to the Gmail app.
I’ll open a new blank email by clicking on the compose icon in the bottom right of the inbox.

STEP 7
To attach a video to the email, I’ll click on the paperclip icon at the top of the email
From the two options shown, to attach a video file larger than 25MB, I’ll choose
To Insert the file from Drive

STEP 8
I’ll choose to look at the recent files on the drive
And you’ll see that the large file we uploaded is shown at the top of this page
I’ll tap on that once to choose it
And to add it, I’ll click on the select link at the bottom of the window

STEP 9
A link is then added in the email to the file on your Google Drive.

STEP 10
If I add a title to the email and click on the Send icon at the top the email
Gmail displays a sharing options box
If you do want the video file to be accessible to anyone you send the email to, you need to choose to share the file with ‘Anyone with the link’

STEP 11
To finally confirm those choices, I need to click on the Send link.
Gmail then confirms that the email has been sent with the video file attached
