Today we are going to talk about some basic auxiliary verbs and their uses. We will cover ‘Am/is/are/was/were and will be in today’s lesson. These auxiliary verbs are commonly used in English and it is necessary to understand them properly. ‘Am, is and are’ are used to make sentences in the present tense. ‘Was and were’ are used to make sentences in past tense and ‘will be’ is used to make sentences in the future tense. Uses of Am is, are
‘Am, is and are’ are used in the present tense. ‘Am’ is used with I, ‘is’ is used with singular nouns except ‘I’ and ‘you’ and ‘are’ is used with plural nouns and ‘you’. All ‘am, is, are’ are auxiliary verbs.
Examples of am, is, are in sentences:
I am a student. (म एक विद्यार्थी हुँ। )
He is a student. (उ एक विद्यार्थी हो। )
We are students. (हामी विद्यार्थीहरु हौँ। )

Uses of were, were;
‘Was and were’ are also auxiliary verbs. They are used in the past tense. ‘Was’ is used in singular nouns except ‘you’ and were is used with plural nouns and ‘you’.

Examples of was were in sentences:
I was a student. (म विद्यार्थी थिएँ। )
They were students.(तिनीहरु विद्यार्थीहरु थिए। )

Uses of ‘will be’
‘Will be’ is also an auxiliary verb. It is used in the future tense. ‘Will be’ is used with both plural and singular nouns.

Examples of "Will be" in sentences
I will be a doctor. (म डाक्टर हुनेछु। )
She will be at home. (उनि घरमा हुनेछिन्। )
