Preseason is still going, but we have an updated look at Week 1 with some new features this season, including analyzing our own stupid mistakes, with the hope of learning from them.

We are also introducing a new voting feature in which we identify four games that are almost too close to pick and want you to submit your votes in the comments.

RAVENS AT CHIEFS

As always, the league kicks off at the home of the defending champions, so the Chiefs host the Ravens in
a rematch of last season's AFC Championship game.

We see this game as being just as close as last year's game, when the Ravens' 3 turnovers were their undoing.

Derrick Henry could be the difference, as the Ravens should pass to get ahead and then run the ball to seal
the deal.

TEXANS AT COLTS

CJ Stroud looks to build upon his outstanding rookie season which culminated in a playoff win and winning
Offensive Rookie of the year.

The Texans did not stand pat, adding receiver Stefon Diggs from Buffalo,
and Joe Mixon.

Don't sleep on the Indianapolis Colts as Anthony Richardson should be back from injury and had an impressive
start to his rookie season last year before a season-ending injury in Week 5.

This game should really be close, but we think the Texans off-season improvements make the difference.

PANTHERS AT SAINTS

Bryce Young may forever have to live down the fact that he was selected BEFORE CJ Stroud.

This is not his fault, but his below-par performance last season definitely is. We follow the SEC, so
we never thought Young should be the number one pick based on what we saw while he was at Alabama.

That being said, he is clearly more talented than what he showed last season and the Panthers should
improve on offense this season.

Improvement and consistency are two keys to the Saints' hopes in 2024. We have them picked to win a three-team
race in the NFC South with the Bucs and the Falcons.

Take the Saints in this one

STEELERS AT FALCONS

Originally, this looked like a no-brainer for the Falcons, but on closer inspection we like what the
Steelers have done in the offseason. Russell Wilson should stablize the QB position and adding Justin
Fields provides them both a backup QB and a diverse weapon that could be used in multiple different ways.

The Falcons improved at QB with Kirk Cousins, and also have his backup and successor in newly-drafted
Michael Penix Jr. We would not have drafted Penix here with Cousins having just been signed, but we
actually understand the Falcons' logic having had very poor Quarterback play for the past 3 seasons.

We like the Falcons here, but watch for the Steelers to upset some better teams in 2024.

JAGS AT DOLPHINS

An All-Florida clash in what should be a very hot day in Early September. The Jags have the firepower
to match the Dolphins who might be already looking at their Week 2 divisional showdown with Buffalo.

We see a close game here with the Dolphins winning in a 3 point or less decision.

COMMANDERS AT BUCS

We don't think they are quite ready to contend yet, but we think the Commanders should improve with Jayden
Daniels, Austin Ekeler and other additions.

Week 1 does them no favors though, having to open on the road in hot conditions against a division winner.

You can bet that Todd Bowles' aggressive defense will seek to take advantage of the rookie in his first start.

We like the Bucs in this one.

PACKERS AT EAGLES(SAO PAULO, BRAZIL)

Both of these teams are legitimate Super Bowl contenders and we don't see a huge advantage here.

We see the teams as even, but we like the Eagles' additions of Saquon Barkley and their improvement in
pass defense as a narrow advantage for the Eagles.

International games are tough also, as there is no true home field advantage.

COWBOYS AT BROWNS

This might be the closest matchup of the entire week. The Cowboys are the better team, but they don't
play nearly as well on the road. The flip side is that the Browns' defense holds teams to under 14 points AT HOME.
On the road, it is over 30 points
