Airsoft Version 2 Gearbox Upgrade, Part 3

Now we move on to the Gears and Shimming process. This is in my opinion the most critical part of the gearbox.

Improvement at the core of your AEG.

Not just with upgrades but in overall health and function of it. Improper shims and alignment will prematurely wear down parts and cause catastrophic failure (and at the worst time). I have personal experience there, and boy does it ruin your day.
Improper shimmed gears can also cause damage to other parts of the gearbox as well. If shrapnel is created due to failure, futher damage than just the gears can be exptected, so my fellow airsofters, Dont risk that.
A brand new, from the factory gearbox needs to be re-shimmed, rarely do they come right. Biggest reason is because of your specific motor and handle/grip. Not all AEGs are alike so, yes, reshimming even a brand new one is important.

Here I go over the how’s and why’s of each step in this process. Make no mistake, this is a rather long and frustrating process, but it is a necessity one. You will thank yourself later, I assure you.
