2010 world championship Japan obtained the bronze medal and ranked 4th in 2011 World Cup. This Nippon team should easily get top 3 in this tournament but things didn’t go the way as expected. The most controversial match in women volleyball history happened in this tournament (Japan vs Serbia stated as a 'match-fixing’ game)
Post-Match Commentary :
Chinese Taipei standard was the 5-6th in Asian. The only appearance of them was in the big tournaments. They were rarely invited to play in WGP. But 2006 World Championship they beat down Nippon unexpectedly 3:1 thus Nippon played cautiously to Chinese Taipei since after.
This was the Day 1 game and lineup was Saori, Ebata, Yamaguchi, Takeshita, Erika, Iwasaka and Sano. The same as 2011 World Cup. Otomo and Inoue were not fully recovered. Vs Asian teams, Japan level outbreak their opponent and made a good start to the road of Olympic.
