OSA Plays the Record: Betty Davis - If I'm In Luck I Might Get Picked Up OG Funk Promo Edit 45 Only

This is one of my favorite songs of forever ever. I'll never get tired of any Betty Davis record, but this one. This makes me wanna yell out Miles Davis's favorite word. I mean. This is what you get when you fuse Santana with Sly & the Family Stone. This is the hardest funk there is from the most forwardly sexual female songwriter and performer of her time. Way more overtly suggestive than Tina. Don't get me wrong. Tina Turner was the raw lioness on stage... pure energy in a short-ass mini skirt, scaring the sh!t out of every man in the audience while arousing them at the same time. That's Tina. Tina also sang cover songs. There were a handful of her own songs on a few singles & albums, but Ike & Tina absolutely killed it when they put their soul and fire into rock cover songs. That was their bread and butter, and they were the best at it.

This is different.

This is Betty Davis. She wrote and performed tales of her own wild lifestyle and forward point of view. She was incredibly sexual on stage in a totally different way... something that didn't just scare men in her audiences, but also scared promoters. Radio programmers. Record labels. Even her former husband. That's a cryin' shame. She was hands down one of the baddest women to ever set foot in a recording studio. The sh!t she wrote and sang about was raw and real. As honest as it got in 1973.
