Hi everyone! Back from my extra long vacation time. Now let's have a look at our train rides in The Netherlands again. To start with the HSL! In August I recorded a ride where a side fire was reported. Keep your eyes open, get some popcorn and enjoy the ride.

0:00 Breda Shunting Track
We start the ride at the shunting track in Breda. After I arrived with this train coming from Amsterdam I took the train to this track to change direction for the route back to Amsterdam. Now we bring fourth our train for the new passengers boarding for Rotterdam, Schiphol and Amsterdam. Welcome on board!

2:44 Breda
Skipping some time here. Nothing special to see in the meantime. Now let's get this train moving!

6:51 Breda Prinsenbeek

7:46 Train Dispatcher Calling
The dispatcher is calling to give us an order to drive carefully at a maximum speed of 40km/h on the tracks ahead because of a side fire. Fireman are at work to take down the fire as we speak. To ensure they can so their work safely we must slow down. Also this prevents hard winds coming from the train spreading the fire.

9:27 Side Fire + Entering HSL South Section
Always fun when things like these come together at one place. We must now take it easy with the speed while entering the HSL. A lot of work at ones for the driver at times like this. Luckily for us the side fire is still a few hundred meters before the powerless section of the HSL, so we can still make some speed before we enter the slope and the voltage change-over.

13:31 Slowing to Gain More Speed...?
It sounds weird, but at this point I'm slowing down the train to gain more speed at the upcoming part of the ride. At few kilometers ahead is a phase-lock where the high voltage must be taken off the train. So the choice is: letting the train roll on this speed going up a slope and loosing more speed. Or slowing down the train, getting back the high voltage for a short time, make some extra speed in the meantime and shut the high voltage off the train again at the phase lock. I choose for the last option because this is less time consuming.

15:31 Phase-lock Lage Zwaluwe

17:31 Brug Hollandsch Diep + Tunnel Dordtsche Kil
We are now 5 minutes behind on schedule. With a bit of luck we can arrive at Rotterdam with a 3.5 minute delay. Let keep this train on its maximum speed.

21:33 Tunnel Oude Maas
22:54 Leaving HSL South Section + Kap and Dive-under Barendrecht
25:28 Rotterdam Lombardijen
26:25 Rotterdam Stadion
27:24 Rotterdam Zuid + Willemsspoortunnel

28:48 Faulty Train + Rotterdam Blaak
At Rotterdam Blaak there's a faulty train at the track we supposed to be driving on. Therefor we got diverted to this middle track and had to slow down a bit because we're running behind another train. Delay is growing again.

30:02 Rotterdam Centraal
We arrive with a 5 minute delay at Rotterdam. Luckily for the passengers it's not that busy, so the train manager can close the doors pretty fast. We depart with a 3 minute delay.

34:31 Entering HSL North Section
Back on the HSL. Let's get this train up to speed again!

37:47 Bergschenhoek
40:00 Phase-lock Bleiswijk

42:53 Testing Trains Horns
Must be done every 24 hour outside city limits because of the loud noise.

43:07 Tunnel Groene Hart
48:52 Ringvaartaquaduct
51:29 Leaving HSL North Section
52:18 Hoofddorp Opstel (shunting yard)
53:10 Hoofddorp
54:03 Schipholtunnel

55:27 Schiphol Airport
We arrive at Schiphol Airport with a 2 minute delay. Thanks to the good cooperation with the train dispatcher of Schiphol. All green lights at the Airport. This gives us the opportunity to enter the station with 60km/h instead of 40km/h. Also a quick stop here. With just one minute delay we depart for the final ride to Amsterdam.

1:03:13 Amsterdam Lelylaan
Back on schedule now! :D

1:05:09 Amsterdam Sloterdijk
1:07:13 Zaanstraat (shunting yard)
1:08:21 Singelgrachtbrug

1:09:08 Amsterdam Centraal + Train Dispatchers Amsterdam Area
We arrive on our final stop for this ride. Perfectly on time we arrive at Amsterdam Centraal. On the left side you can see the train dispatchers building for the Amsterdam area.

I hope you enjoyed this ride. Tell your friends about this channel. And if you have any questions, please let me know! :D Cheers!
