Evolution of pyrethroid insecticide resistance in Aedes aegypti from Peru - Jennifer Baltzegar

Описание к видео Evolution of pyrethroid insecticide resistance in Aedes aegypti from Peru - Jennifer Baltzegar

The mosquito Aedes aegypti transmits dengue and other viruses. Pyrethroid insecticides are used to reduce mosquito populations, but resistance to pyrethroids is increasingly common. We have previously documented the rapid evolution of resistance in a mosquito population. Currently, we are working to identify the demographic histories of specific resistance haplotypes to understand better how resistance evolves. This information may be valuable in helping to preserve insecticide efficacy and reduce disease incidence.
