Dead trees of the past litter the Eight Lakes Basin, but my friends and I see the resiliency of nature in the bursting growth in plants in their place. Enjoy this backpacking trek in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness.

THIS HIKE
This easy 14.6 mile loop begins at the very popular Marion Lake trailhead. Starting in 2021 limited entry permits will need to be purchased on recreation.gov in order to hike or backpack this area from May through September. All told you'll pass nine lakes and step over many more blown down snags on this trip. A significant portion of the trail goes through forest burned heavily in the 2003 B&B Complex Fires.
