DONT MISS Part 3 (Kanpur - New Delhi) here :    • Howrah New Delhi Duronto Express: Jou...

The second of the three parts of a compilation of an entire journey from Howrah to New Delhi in the 12273 Howrah-New Delhi Duronto Express.

Led by Howrah WAP-4 #22409, we had departed Howrah at 12:47 and after quite an impressive run have arrived at Gaya, out second technical halt, at 18:57. PART 2 STARTS HERE...

After a 4 minute halt, we depart Gaya at 19:01 in a sharp right hand curve that forms the second part of the large S-curve that Gaya falls in. The sharp yet short spell of shower that had started post Gurpa continue with us.

Crossing the 2.7 km long bridge over River Son, we skip Dehri-on-Sone at 19:57. Dinner is served just before Mughalsarai and we coast through the giant Mughalsarai yard while relishing a tasty dinner from Gaya's base kitchen. Mughalsarai at 21:10 where we meet the late running North East Express. Few minutes later, the New Delhi bound Samoorna Kranti Express pulls up beside us.

Leaving behind the Sampoorna Kranti Express, we depart Mughalsarai at 21:22 for the non-stop journey to Kanpur. Note the crossings with a number of trains both fast and slow (including Dibrugarh Rajdhani) while we keep a constant 120 kmph from Chunar till Naini Junction post which we slow down to cross the Yamuna.

Yamuna (pardon me in the video; I've mentioned it as Ganga) looks serene and calm as we cross her to reach Allahabad at 23:30. At a restricted pace, we skip Allahabad and meet the Gaya bound Mahabodhi Express that was running with a ICF rake strangely. At Allahabad outer we cross the Ranchi Rajdhani that was running marginally late.

The next hour passes in the Rajdhani flourish as we cross the Sealdah, Howrah, Bhubaneshwar and the Patna Rajdhanis back to back. The Sampoorna Kranti Express to Patna follows them.

AND, with some power packed action gone and more to come, we coast into Kanpur Central, our fourth and last technical halt, at 1:22 while realizing that we have covered the Allahabad-Kanpur stretch at a staggering average speed of 104 kmph.

PLEASE DONT MISS the last part to witness a few overtakes, the high speed run to New Delhi and a storm called The Lucknow Shatabdi.
