The third and last of the three parts of a compilation of an entire journey from Howrah to New Delhi in the 12273 Howrah-New Delhi Duronto Express.

We are led by Howrah WAP-4 #22409 and have arrived at Kanpur at 1:22 after having departed Howrah at 12:47 the previous day. The third part of the compilation starts from here...

As we stand at Kanpur, our last technical halt, the Sealdah bound AC Duronto from New Delhi comes to a halt with Howrah WAP-4 #22407 for its first technical halt. Bidding a goodbye to the AC Duronto and Kanpur, we depart at 1:30 and spot the Patna-Kota Express in the darkness with a Vatva WDM-3D.

At Kanpur outer we meet two unidentified trains and slowly pick up speed after negotiating the sharp right hand curve. The next part is pretty event less and I fell asleep.

At 4:25, I find ourselves running late by some 2.5 hours. The reason becomes clear as we overtake the Marudhar Express with a failed Ghaziabad WAP-7 at a wayside station. At Etawah, we overtake the Poorva Express and ourselves soon get overtaken by the Patna Rajdhani with was close in our heels since Kanpur.

We skip Shikohabad and Ferozabad amidst some 120 kmph action and crawl through Tundla at 5:40 at a restriction of 30 kmph. The sky gradually takes up the colour of day as we sprint towards Aligarh.

Post Aligarh, we are engulfed by a dense mist but a commendable job by the section controllers and our LP, we continue to pelt at 120 kmph towards Delhi. At Dankaur, we cross a storm called the Lucknow Shatabdi and meet the Howrah bound Kalka Mail at Ghaziabad.

We cover the last lap of our journey in ease skipping the last few stations at a commendable speed and finally enter New Delhi at 8:25. The Lucknow Rajdhani and the Patna Rajdhani are spectators as we end our journey, a memorable one, but 2 hours 5 minutes delayed!
