Piedmont, Oklahoma EF5 Tornado (Near-Miss) 5/24/11

Описание к видео Piedmont, Oklahoma EF5 Tornado (Near-Miss) 5/24/11

On May 24, 2011, One of the last (and one of the most powerful) EF5 tornadoes would tear a path through central Oklahoma. Along with that, 46 other tornadoes were confirmed. An EF5 rating is the highest possible raising a tornado could get, and since this outbreak, only 1 other tornado has gotten said rating. Most notably, this twister has been widely considered as the fourth strongest tornado on record. Due to this, the outbreak/tornado have become well known by many and unforgettable by most alive in the area at the time. But, to some it seems like this tornado fell under the radar historically, leaving only a handful of videos available online. Since most were shared back then, any new angles from the event are most definitely a big deal, especially if of rarer tornadoes. For example, I recently discovered this incredible footage of a driver nearly driving into the mile wide EF5 near Piedmont. You can see as the videographer realizes that black mass next to him is in fact a massive twister, causing him to turn around and potentially near-miss a terrifying experience. It was recorded by Bill Terrell, who says he “thanks lord he saw it in time”. This footage is extremely rare, so I do hope you all enjoy! Special thanks to Tom for recording this and posting it on his Facebook back then!
