Advocacy Week 2024 Training Session 3: What We Are Advocating For

Описание к видео Advocacy Week 2024 Training Session 3: What We Are Advocating For

For Advocacy Week 2024, we'll use our meetings with legislators to educate them on the emerging science and community efforts under the umbrella of infection-associated chronic conditions and illnesses.

We're asking for the establishment of an Office or Center at the NIH that addresses infection-associated chronic conditions and illnesses (IACCIs). This would convene researchers across specialities, streamline resources, facilitate/require patient engagement, and improve external outreach with a plan to foster collaborative research, including through clinical trials and sites.

Solve VP of Advocacy and Engagement Emily Taylor leads this training session, explaining the strategy behind our Advocacy Week ask, and the prevalence and economic impact of IACCIs--particulary on BIPOC communities. She also offers tips on addressing misconceptions of ME/CFS and Long Covid and how to prioritize patient constituents in congressional meetings.
