Chordplay - 'Unlocking Harmonic Minor Chords & Progressions'

Here's the next episode of Chordplay and this time we're looking at the interesting and exotic world of the Harmonic Minor scale and the chords and progressions you can unlock from diving a little deeper into this unique musical anomaly.

Harmonic Minor seems to be labeled "the Yngwie scale" but you can find this ear-twisting sound hiding in plenty of rock, jazz, pop, classical, and a host of other musical styles. This includes classic rock anthems such as 'Hotel California' and 'Sultans of Swing,' but also hard rock and metal coming from artists and groups such as Opeth, Dream Theater, and Joe Satriani (to name a few).
