"Closet Monster" (2015) (Movie Review with Spoilers)

"Closet Monster" is a 2015 film written and directed by Stephen Dunn. It was produced by Kevin Krikst, Fraser Ash and Edward J. Martin. It stars Connor Jessup, Aaron Abrams, Aliocha Schneider, Joane Kelly, Sofia Banzhaf, Jack Fulton and Isabella Rossellini (as Buffy).

I forgot to mention the very funny scene where Oscar gets high at work and his boss suggests that he finds something else because she doesn't want to fire him. Kudos to everyone involved and specifically to the writer/director of course, for sharing this unforgettable piece of art with the world.

This film tells the story of Oscar and his life long quest to come to terms with who he really is without having to relive the painful memories of a cruel hate crime he was a witness of when he was a child. With the arrival of Wilder (an attractive new coworker), Oscar is left feeling helpless to himself as he tries to manage living with his immature father and trying to not release all his anger with the people he actually cares about, such as Gemma (a really good long time friend of his).

Filled with a child-like coping mechanism which translates to having a hamster named Buffy narrate much of Oscar's inner thoughts, to not being able to accept his mother's new family as his own to having his world turned upside down when he receives a rejection letter from a university (and more...). This movie encaptures the struggle of everyday life in the most pure and honest way. Highly recommend it.
