Carving a Coffee Scoop

Описание к видео Carving a Coffee Scoop

My friend asked me to make a flour scoop, so I decided to carve it out of a piece of walnut I had. I mostly used hand tools but I removed most of the carved out section of the scoop with a forstner bit in the drill press before carving the rest out with a pfeil 7-40 gouge before scraping with a scraper I rounded over to scrape concave surfaces.

I cut the shape of the scoop out with a bandsaw (I accidently didn't film that sorry) and then taped the cutoffs back onto the handle of the scoop so I could cut away the side profile too.

I cut the facets of the outside of the scoop away with a handsaw and then shaped the back and the handle with a spokeshave and chisels.

I finished it with a couple of coats of Tung oil and then a beeswax mineral oil blend.

I was experimenting with filming and editing slightly differently so hopefully you enjoyed this style of video
