LOCKSMITH is the Armored Core of V.I Freud, commander of the Vespers and leader of their first squad. Arguably the deadliest AC pilot on Rubicon, Freud has made a name for himself as Arquebus' primary problem solver. Although thought to be an augmented human like his Vesper squadmates, Freud's incredible skill is all natural, including his ability to command independent drones in the middle of a battle. His elitist Vesper sneer and understated AC help disguise a bloodthirsty man who only truly cares about the thrill of the fight.

- The preset AC LOCKSMITH shown in the video is unlocked by defeating 01/S V.I Freud in the Arena. -

The LOCKSMITH is almost a great mech. A strong arsenal and balanced frame is more than enough to beat out most of its preset peers, but the decision to run the VE-20A generator nearly sabotages the entire machine: you get no benefit from its positive Energy Firearm Spec, and the VP-20S is strictly an upgrade. You'll be running into energy issues at the worst of times, which is no doubt where your Pulse Armor comes into play.

And while the LOCKSMITH's weapons are good, there are still little annoyances to be found here: the laser drones, while iconic, don't put on too much pressure by themselves and can be slow to deploy, which means they might end up on the wrong enemy if you switch targets too early. The ABBOT FCS promotes a close-range playstyle, which the MORLEY and laser blade support, but the blade has a finnicky issue where the second swing of its charged attack can whiff entirely if too close or if your opponent is at a different height from you.

But as an allround mech, the LOCKSMITH can deliver in a variety of scenarios - the perennially underrated TURNER rifle and solid frame help a lot in this regard. In conclusion, I do recommend the LOCKSMITH, but it will require smart energy management to fully utilise its strong arsenal.

| This is by no means a "guide" to show you how to play the AC; I'm sure there are far better players than me who can do more with these mechs. I just want to show off some cool mechs in the style of @bansheent-d Armored Core For Answer videos.

| Recorded on PS5. Played on Patch 1.04. (NOTE: In order to see a preset AC in the Assembly or Paint tabs of the garage: make sure to first enter the Paint tab, saying "Yes" to removing the edit lock. Then back out of the Paint tab, making sure to "Discard" changes and not save. Now, re-enter the Paint tab and you can see the exact colours of the preset AC! (however, decals will not transfer over.))
