Hi Travis and Suzy, How about we do a Guns n Roses video trilogy series? What will make this trilogy cool, in my opinion, is that there is a running theme in these songs. I know you have already done other reactions to (2) of these songs: Welcome to the Jungle & Paradise City, but all three of these songs actually tie together nicely. A little history on Axl Rose. You may or may not know, but he came to Los Angeles from small-town Indiana, raised in a conservative and religious family and a town devoid of much diversity. To put it bluntly, he had not really been exposed to other cultures, religions, or people unlike the people in his hometown. When he got to LA, he realized pretty quickly that he was a "fish out of water," seeing many things he had never seen before. So when he and the band started writing music for their first album, Appetite for Destruction, he used these first-hand experiences in the lyrics. So "Welcome to the Jungle" is actually a story of a person like Axl, coming to LA right off the greyhound bus (you see this in the opening shot of the video), and being transported to a place they had never been before. Los Angeles is often referred to as a "concrete jungle," so the song title is actually a play on that reference. For better context, pull up the lyrics and you will see what I mean. This is not only one of the best openings ever on a debut album, but as you already know, it has such a killer riff. Hope you like it.
