The Padma Bridge, a top priority first track development project, will provide the strongest infrastructure for socio-economic development in the southwest part of Bangladesh for several million people. Padma bridge ranks 122nd in the list of the world's longest bridges. Moreover, Padma Bridge piling diagnosis has a radius of 3 meters and its deepest pairing is 128 meters, which is the deepest pairing in the world. A span of the 6.15 kilometer-long bridge started in 2014, was set up in 2021, and the work is scheduled to complete in June 2022. The bridge's construction cost reached about BDT 30,193.39 crore, which is also fully funded by the government. The project is 89 percent complete as of November 2021. Upon completion of the project, the overall GDP growth of the country will increase by 1.23 percent since 2.5 percent of the country's southwestern region will be developed. Padma bridge consists mostly of two parts: the upper part of the road and the lower part of the railway. As a subroute of the Trans-Asian Railway Network, the Padma Railway Project is contributing to more than 1 percent of the country's GDP growth.
