Arashiyama is one of our favorite places in Japan. A beautiful river with jade colored water, an iconic bridge over 400 years old, breathtaking trees, including two small bamboo forests, a pretty cool observation point on top of a surrounding mountain (a little hiking required), many, many, many centuries old temples and shrines, and lucky us the perfect weather to enjoy them all.
