15 Kilometers of spectacular beauty and hundreds of years of history. We walked from our cute townhome in Kyoto, near Kyoto station, to all the locations here. We first visited Yasaka Shrine, also known as Gion Shrine. They host the famous Gion Festival in the summer. Behind the shrine is the small, but very picturesque, Maruyama Park. Next location was Chion-in Temple with its grand hall and bell tower. We believe they were celebrating its 850th anniversary! After a brief break, we walked towards Nanzen-ji Temple where we found our favorite Sanmon Gate! Just wow, we really recommend a visit here. You can climb the stairs to the top of the gate and the view is amazing, not to mention the feeling of standing on this majestic gate. Next to the gate is the Shirokaku Roman Style Aqueduct. A very unexpected site in Kyoto. And lastly, we visited the beautiful Eikando Temple and Hojo Garden. This was our most spectacular day! Take time to linger wherever you are. #timetolinger #slowtravel #TatandSteve
